Hitt sii, ogmoo Mara anxnex sniu, "Jitt xee sabunn Gotama, virr jingwlangg uii lehh decc qangxsuad Hxuad. Guaw diyhh laii vaiwhongw sabunn Gotama, tangx suxx jingwlangg ee bagjiux hunluan."

Hitt sii, okmoo Mara kir Sewjunx hiax vaiwhongw. Vaiwhue quer, iong jimgensix duiww Sewjunx qongw:
"Liw dirr dairjiongr binrjingg,
Sniaxmic longxx m qniax,
Cincniu sraix-aw decc qiyr.
Jiax u jit xee tangx qapp liw vnrix ciuxbuew,
Si liw ee digciuw.
Liw liahjuer liw kacc ngiaa langg'?"

[Sewjunx:]
"Dua inghiongg dirr jingwlangg binrjingg,
Hnuahiw sxen byy qnia'uir.
Zulaii did diyc sibhongx ee ligliong,
Ciautuad sewqanx ee aiwiok."

Hitt sii, okmoo Mara jin' koxnuaw, qongw, "Sewjunx ixqingx jaix si guaw, Sxen Quewongw ixqingx jaix si guaw." Dyrr iamxsinx an' hiax byy .kir.

12. Lion
On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Savatthi in Jeta’s Grove, Anathapindika’s Park. Now on that occasion the Blessed One was teaching the Dhamma while surrounded by a large assembly.

Then it occurred to Mara the Evil One: “This recluse Gotama is teaching the Dhamma while surrounded by a large assembly. Let me approach the recluse Gotama in order to confound them.”

Then Mara the Evil One approached the Blessed One and addressed him in verse:
“Why now do you roar like a lion,
Confident in the assembly?
For there is one who’s a match for you,
So why think yourself the victor?”

“The great heroes roar their lion’s roar
Confident in the assemblies—
The Tathagatas endowed with the powers,
Who have crossed over attachment to the world.”

Then Mara the Evil One ... disappeared right there.

〔一二〕 獅子
爾時，世尊住舍衛城祇樹給孤獨園。其時，世尊為大會眾所圍繞而說法。
時，惡魔波旬作如是思惟：「此沙門瞿曇，為大會眾所圍繞而說法、我寧可昏昧諸人眼目，以往詣沙門瞿曇。」
時，惡魔波旬詣世尊處。詣已，以偈言世尊曰：
任何大眾前　　　敢如是無畏
作師子吼耶　　　此處角力士
乃汝之敵手　　　既勝汝曾思
〔世尊：〕
大雄眾會前　　　歡善依無畏
如來得十力　　　超離世愛著
時，惡魔波旬苦惱以：「世尊已知我。善逝已知我。」萎身沒形於其處。
