One
is called "a Brahmin" because he keeps away from evil. One is called
"a recluse" because he lives in tranquility. If one has renounced
one's own impurities, then one is called "a monk".
(法句經 388 - 婆羅門品)
棄除惡業者,是名婆羅門。行為清淨者,則稱為沙門,自除垢穢者,是名出家人。
